How can we embody the seasonal changes?
All Hallow's Eve, Halloween, Samhain, All Saints Day, The Day of the Dead... these are just some of the different celebrations that took place across the world this past week.
This celebration marks the midpoint between the Fall Equinox and the Winter Solstice, and we celebrate with our ancestors under a thin veil between the Earthly and Spiritual realms.
We celebrate the Crone, our wisest archetype of the Triple Goddess. We look to the wisdom of our elders as we move into the dark part of the year and face our truest selves, if we have the courage to do so.
In my personal practice, and with clients, I mark this time as an important spiritual tune in. I check in with the ancestors, the saints, the goddesses and the lineages that have come before me for wisdom. I celebrate the end of a harvest, and all that came with this year's work. I celebrate the opportunity to meet myself stripped down in the darkness of winter, to see where we can unveil even more layers of unwitnessed magic.
As a freebie for this special holiday, I wanted to share a little ritual with you- a Wheel of the Year Ahead Spread.
You can print the pages below to set up for your sacred ceremony, or use the guide provided in The Wheel of the Woman.
You'll just need a tarot or oracle deck and something to write with. You can set your sacred space up with an altar to honor your ancestors, candles, pumpkins, apples, acorns, and other seasonal gifts from nature. I like to bring in all four elements from Nature- air, fire, water, and earth.
Once you've set your space, cleanse/clear your deck as you see fit and prepare for the reading. This reading will guide you throughout your entire next year, giving you something to come back to each Sabbat. Let me know if you try this! I'd love to see your spreads!
