A friend sent me a text, “How is chaos associated with the feminine nature?” My first response was, “It IS the feminine nature!” She wanted more though… a deeper explanation. So many thoughts and old conversations came racing through my mind. I told her to wait, and I would formulate a real answer.
I have studied the properties of masculinity & femininity- yin & yang, in many different ways, from many different teachers. John Wineland, embodiment and intimacy coach, laid out a chart for me once that I have built upon over the years with my husband, Aaron. The basic understanding of this chart was that all Consciousness is made up of two things- love & freedom. Each of us have this duality within us- A masculine force, or yang, working towards freedom. A feminine force, or yin, working towards love.
Within these two underlying intentions of every soul, there is a bigger breakdown. The masculine urge towards freedom creates energies that are linear, structural, single focused, strategic. There is freedom in Discipline. These are Solar energies. The feminine urge towards love creates energies that are cyclical, flowy, chaotic and intuitive. These are Lunar energies.
The feminine urge for Love can lead a Soul towards radiating Chaos if that is what will command the presence of love. Chaos can come in the form of a ‘hot mess’ archetype that is attention-grabbing and somehow charming. It can come in the form of multitasking, radiating creativity and opposing energies all over the place. Chaos can stem from a tower-like moment, where the feminine creates a spiral of energy that captivates anyone who touches it, almost as if all that touch this chaos will spiral down, too. The feminine aspect of consciousness knows that stagnant waters will create stagnant beings, and therefore chaos is sometimes a necessary force to shift the winds.
It is no mistake that the Feminine essence or energies are sometimes referred to as a ‘Spiral’ Concept or Principle. Devon Battaglia, feminine coach, says, “The Spiral Principle is all that is transient, shifting, passive, and cyclical, like the moon. The Triangle Principle is all that is fixed, structured, active, and linear, like the sun.” You can see the correlations here, between Wineland and Battaglia’s concepts. The feminine aspect within a Soul is the seeker of Love- it is ever changing, it is cyclical, it is intuitive. And in a masculine world, that is a glimpse of Chaos.
